During my two month stay in Guatemala I would see this cemetery every time I would take the bus from Panajachel to Solola.
Kind of wish cemeteries in the US were this colorful.

Jasmin's
One of my favorite places to eat in Panajachel is Jasmin's Deli. It has one of the most varied menus.
They have everything from hummus, burritos, burgers, pasta, pizza, and lots of vegetarian options
They make the best pitaya licuado! It has a very unique, light, and refreshing taste. (Pitaya = dragon fruit)
The restaurant itself has so much natural beauty. You're surrounded by pretty flowers and trees.

Santa Cruz La Laguna
Two weeks ago I went by lancha to Santa Cruz La Laguna for a class meeting.
The lake/Guatemala in general is beautiful.
Chapin breakfast: omelet, refried beans, sweet plantains and cheese.
After class, we went to Aryn's homestay to eat guacamole. Her madre weaves trajes by hand.

After a light lunch we all headed back to Panajachel.
I'm going to miss being surrounded by mountains and volcanoes. Back to NYC in 4 days.

Tamale Birthday Party
Today my host mom invited me to go to her daughter's house for tamales. Her granddaughter was turning 14. In Guatemala, specifically indigenous people, celebrate birthdays by making chicken tamales. I love tamales. My grandma makes the best Colombian double meat tamales. (just in case you missed it: my grandmas tamales.) Their tamales were equally delicious but completely different. The masa they use is made out of ground rice instead of corn! The texture was great; the sauce was flavorful and made out of tomatoes and spices. Here's photos from my day:
